Easy to use just open the bag add 5 lbs. of sugar and 16 oz. of water. Cook to between 290ºF and 300º F and you are ready to dip. Mix will make 70 to 100 apples depending on size. Individual 15 oz. package of ApplEZ.
Please be advised that apple wholesalers are applying a new preservative coating to apples to keep them fresher longer. It is called LAC Resin or Shellac Resin. It makes apples appear very shiny and fresh, and does tend to extend the shelf life. However, caramel apple dip and candy coating will not stick to these apples. It is not a problem with the caramel apple dip or the candy coating, but is the result of the wholesaler’s slick coating.
In the past, we have told people to wash the apples with soap and water to remove the wax, but it will not remove this coating. The only thing that will remove it is Propylene Glycol (food-safe alcohol).
To insure that your apples will coat properly be sure to purchase apples that are not coated with LAC Resin or Shellac Resin.
